We're a small, independent team of Beverley residents who got tired of relying on generic review sites that didn't understand our town. So we built something better.
Our Story
Beverley Salon Guide was founded by Phil Scaife, a Beverley resident who spent years recommending local salons to friends and family through word of mouth. After one too many disappointing experiences from salons found on generic national directories, Phil decided to create a resource that truly reflected the quality of Beverley's hair and beauty scene.
Launched in 2024, the guide has grown to cover every hair salon, beauty salon, spa, and wedding specialist in Beverley and the surrounding East Yorkshire area. Every listing is personally reviewed, every recommendation is genuine, and every piece of content is written by someone who actually lives here.
We're not affiliated with any salon, we don't accept payment for positive reviews, and we don't inflate ratings. Our Editor's Choice award goes to the salon we genuinely believe offers the best experience in Beverley — and right now, that's De Lacy Hair and Beauty.

We hold ourselves to strict standards of independence and accuracy. Here's exactly how we research, rate, and recommend salons.
How We Research
Every salon in our directory is researched using a combination of in-person visits, mystery client bookings, analysis of verified customer reviews across multiple platforms (Google, Facebook, Treatwell), and direct conversations with salon owners. We visit each salon at least once before publishing a listing.
How We Rate
Our ratings are calculated from a weighted average of verified customer reviews, our own editorial assessment, and objective criteria including hygiene standards, staff qualifications, product quality, and value for money. Ratings are updated quarterly. We never accept payment to improve a rating.
Editor's Choice
The Editor's Choice badge is awarded to the single salon we believe offers the best overall experience in Beverley. It's based on consistent excellence across all criteria over a minimum 12-month period. Currently held by De Lacy Hair and Beauty, winner of the English Hair & Beauty Awards 2020.
Our Independence Promise
Beverley Salon Guide is funded through premium listing fees paid by salons who want enhanced visibility — larger listings, gallery images, and direct booking links. These fees are charged at a flat rate regardless of our editorial opinion of the salon.
Paying for a premium listing does not influence our editorial ratings, our review content, or our Editor's Choice award. A salon can pay for the top premium tier and still receive a critical review if that's what the evidence supports.
